Swedish is a prerequisite for this course, therefore the information that follows is in Swedish.
Inför HT 2007
Du får ett antagninsbesked som du ska besvara senast 27 juli.
Omkring 10 augusti skickar vi ut information om registrering till dig som ska börja på Engelska I.
Det första du ska göra är att komma till ett obligatoriskt upprop måndagen den 27 augusti kl 17.00.
Du kommer att ha ungefär 8-10 timmar undervisning per normalvecka, uppdelade på föreläsningar och gruppundervisning.
Resten av tiden, ungefär 30 timmar per vecka, behöver du för att läsa, skriva och förbereda dig för undervisningen och
delta i grupparbeten (ej lärarledda).
Dina första föreläsningar är fredagen den 31 augusti kl 10-12 och 13-15 och tisdagen den 4 september kl 10-12.
Under resten av terminen har du dina föreläsningar huvudsakligen på måndagar och tordagar.
Seminarieundervisningen kommer att ligga på ytterligare två veckodagar. I samband med uppropet kommer du att få information
om de olika grupperna du kan välja mellan. Terminen sträcker sig fram t o m vecka 3.
Förutom kontinuerlig examination i samband med seminarieundervisningen har du skrivningar 28 september, 9 november, 17 och 19 december.

Information about registration dates and the Autumn Semester 2007
For this course you choose your group (Tuesday or Thursday) via the net between August 20 and 23 and then you
come to the compulsory roll-call and registration on Tuesday August 28.
You will have two exams during the semester: December 17 and 19.
Around August 10 we will send you more information.
Course Information
This course is for students who already have 40 university points in another
academic subject than English. The course does not count towards eligibility
for further studies in English. The course is designed to enhance the student's
ability to employ English at the more sophisticated levels required for further
studies at the university and subsequent career.
A series of seminars running throughout the semester will use written and
Web-based texts for active language analysis. In addition, each student's
own production (e.g. oral presentations, short papers) will provide the input
for seminar work on improving skills at presenting this material in English.
A series of workshops in the first half of the semester will provide overviews
of language and text areas such as English pronunciation, grammar, text analysis,
genres and text structuring. Net-based grammar exercises and web board exercises
will complement the seminars.

For this course there is a compulsory roll-call followed by registration on Wednesday August 29 at 4 PM. The teaching
is scheduled for Thursdays 4-6 PM throuhgout the semester.

Course Information
This course is for students who already have 40 university points in another
academic subject than English. The course aims to introduce students to different
modes of understanding and interpretation of contemporary cultural phenomena;
in patricular, media and popular culture in the English speaking world, Theories
on time and place, ethnicity, multiculturalism and gender will be applied to
different types of 'text', such as films, TV, novels, soap-operas, pop lyrics,
reality television, graphic novels etc.
Information about the Autumn Semester 2007
For this course we have a compulsory roll-call and registration on Tuesdayy August 29 at 4 PM.
Teaching will start the first or second week in September and will, to start with, be on Thursday 4-6 PM.
Later, when XuXi, our guest writer is here, there will be more than one seminar per week.
Around August 14 we will send you more information about registration.

students). The course does not count towards eligibility for further
studies in English.
Famous Works, 15 Higher Education Credits (HEC)
This course will not be offered in the Autumn of 2007.
